Pandharpur is a town in district Solapur in state of Maharashtra in Western India. It is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in Maharashtra. It is located 65 km west of Sholapur, on the banks of the river Bhima, which is also known as Chandrabhaga. Known as "Sourthern Kashi of India", Pandharpur proudly hosts the "Kuladivat" of Maharashtra State- Shree Vithoba and Rukmini, on the banks of the river. Also known by the other names, Pandurang, Vitthal or Pandhari, it is supposed to be The Supreme God of The Universe for all the Maharashtrians and an incarnation of Lord Shiva and Vishnu. The word Vitthala is derived from the word Vishnu in Kannada. Panduranga is a sanskritized form of Pandarga, the old name of Pandharpur. Pundalik, a saint was closely associated with this shrine, and hence this shrine is also known as Pundarika pura. The worship of Vishnu - Vitthala at Pandharpur is derived mainly from the puranas and has been augmented by the contribution of the great saints of Maharashtra and Karnataka from the 13th through the 17th centuries.

  7. Respected Sir Madam,

My name is Kunal Mukund Jadhav. (Residing- Link Road, Salyoh Nagar, Plot No. - 101, Pandharpur, District - Solapur 413304)

    Sir/Madam,

Last night 13/10/2023 between nine o'clock (09.00 pm) I and mother went to see Shri Vitthal Rukmini temple of Pandharpur. Not knowing whether it is allowed to carry mobile phones or not and there was no such instruction or inspection, while entering the temple, I and my mother went inside with mobile phones. As I wanted to take a picture in front of Shri Vitthal Murthy, I took a picture of Shri Vitthal Murthy.
At the same time, a security man came running towards me. And snatched the mobile from my hand. So I was very scared. At the same time, the security personnel confiscated the mobile phone and asked me to bring darshan of Shri Vitthal Murthy.

After that, when mother and I came outside after having darshan, the security personnel asked me for the password of the mobile phone to remove the photo of Mr. Vitthala which I had taken with the camera from my mobile phone. Accordingly I gave them the password. But they exchanged my mobile
He started opening all the applications in the mobile without taking me into confidence and without asking anything. Deleted my important notifications.

I was very scared. There was a possibility of losing some important data in my phone due to their actions. I was ready to fully cooperate with them. But they treated me aggressively and did not listen to me.When I told them not to be aggressive, they angrily took me and my mother to the security manager with my mobile phone in their custody and denied my mother entry through a gate saying that only I was allowed to enter. After a lot of insistence, the mother got permission.

I removed the photo of Mr. Vitthal Murthy that I had taken in front of the manager. The security manager apologized to me and my mother for what happened. But all this caused me and my mother a lot of heartbreak and mental trouble. My mother lost her mental balance. She was very frightened by this.

I request you to fire the security guards who behave rudely and degrade the devotees of Shree Vitthal Rukmini Temple, Pandharpur. In the city of Pandharpur, devotees from Maharashtra state and the country come to see Shri Panduranga with great faith. Sri Vitthal Rukmini Temple in Pandharpur is a world class pilgrimage site.

It is wrong to treat Shri Vitthal devotees aggressively, rudely, intimidatingly and rudely by the security guards of Shri Vitthal Temple in such a holy place. The security guards there should have proper training on how to treat the devotees politely. It is a humble request that the Maharashtra government should investigate such unruly security guards and take appropriate action
